- Khalamkar
- KHALAMKARThese are Indian cloths, hand-painted with the reed pen by the natives. The designs are bold and very carefully drawn, even to the minutest detail. The fabric is first treated in a gall-nut mixture and dried. The painter uses alum for his colour. After painting, the fabric is put through various other processes to set the colour. The finished cloths are used for tablecloths, bed sheets, curtains and many other purposes. Designs may also be printed by hand blocks.
